Community Day
Categories: Community, Events, Faith, Uncategorized
This year’s Cathedral Congregational Day is on Sunday 16th October, again at The Pilgrims’ School. Framed between worship at the 10.00 Sung Eucharist and 3.30 Choral Evensong, the theme this year will ‘Cathedral Ambassadors’ – making more of our strengths and abilities, aimed at supporting our collaborative role as a beacon of faith in the Diocese and region. Speakers include Her Excellency Sian MacLeod – Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic and The Rt Revd Jonathan Frost – Bishop Jonathon was a Residentiary Canon at Guildford Cathedral before coming to Winchester Diocese as a Suffragan Bishop.
The Dean writes… There is much to celebrate about our Christian faith and the opportunities that the Cathedral has for mission and ministry. The Community Day this year is about celebrating and sharing good news so that we are ambassadors both for Christ and for our Cathedral. It is an opportunity for Chapter to share some of the good things going on and for all of us to reflect on the things we value most about the Cathedral’s life. This year we welcome the Bishop of Southampton for the afternoon to listen to our hopes and aspirations and then to share his own reflections.
The Community Day is a valuable opportunity for us to give time to one another and grow as a Cathedral family. I do hope you will join in the Community Day.
