Work with us

This is a special place to work. Steeped in past history, it’s also a thriving modern organisation that offers a warm welcome to thousands of people every year. Our community of clergy, staff and volunteers make it all possible.

Working at the Cathedral

The Cathedral is a wonderful place to visit, with a unique history stretching back 15 centuries, and a huge range of activities taking place every day. It’s also a busy and stimulating community in which to work or volunteer.

Located in the heart of historic Winchester in beautiful grounds, we are well linked by road and rail. The Cathedral is within easy reach of shops and places to eat, and has its own on-site Cathedral Refectory.

Paid employment

We have around 80 permanent full and part-time staff, working in a wide range of roles from directing our wonderful choral music to running our prize-winning Visitor Centre, plus essential support functions such as buildings maintenance, finance and office services.

We also offer regular seasonal vacancies in, for example, our Cathedral Refectory and Shop and Christmas Market, as well as occasional apprenticeships. Current vacancies are listed below.

We offer an excellent benefits package, and actively invest in staff training and development.

Volunteer roles

Without our 700 Cathedral Volunteers, we simply could not operate in the way we do. Among other essential activities, our volunteer teams greet and inform our visitors, ensure our services run smoothly, raise valued funds and support customer services.
We’re always interested in hearing from potential volunteers. You can find out more about the wide range of roles on offer and how to join in Volunteer with us.
