Details
A one of a kind immersive arts experience which brings many communities from Winchester, Hampshire & beyond together to celebrate our common humanity through music and the arts.

Winchester Cathedral is collaborating with the University of Winchester Music Centre and Winchester City of Sanctuary for ‘Sing for Sanctuary’.

Participants from community groups, universities, sanctuary groups and schools will
come together to sing, play, perform and fill Winchester Cathedral with song.

This concert is a chance for all members of community to join together, to sing, to be heard, to
celebrate our shared humanity through the power of song. Some of the music will be performed for the audience and some will be performed with the audience. Schools, community choirs, families, groups, individuals are all invited to come and stand with the performers as they celebrate what it means to be human.

Some of the music you will know, and if you do you are welcome to join in. Some of it you may not know, in which case you are welcome to listen and enjoy, to be moved and inspired.

The performance will begin at 3.30pm, and finish with all performers uniting in song once again in the nave with a song written by children especially for this event: You Are Welcome Here, My Friend.
