Why not join Winchester Cathedral and the Winchester Colour Factory for one of two evening workshops which take you on a journey of discovery through the Cathedral, culminating in participants making original sculptures that will be shown alongside the exhibition artworks.
Using The Elements of Sculpture exhibition (12th May – 2nd July) as inspiration, you’ll gather reference material using your phones as the group explores the various sculptures and the materials they are made from.
Back in the workshop led by the Winchester Colour Factory, located in the Undercroft, you’ll have the opportunity to create different prints inspired by your tour of the Cathedral. Jenny and Michele will show you how to make gelli prints – enabling all participants to effortlessly produce exciting, colourful images which can be enriched with the addition of templates and stencils.
These prints will then be used to make card models inspired by the artworks in the exhibition. At the end of the workshop you will have created your own prints and sculptures and have the ability it be showcased in the Cathedral as part of ‘The Elements of Sculpture’ exhibition, then take home at a later date.
Winchester Cathedral and Winchester Colour Factory aims to create a fun and positive experience that nurtures creative independent thinking and confidence, in what may be to some an unfamiliar environment. To help share participant’s achievements each will be given a free-pass so they can bring back their family and friends at a later date to see their work on display in the Cathedral.
