Behind Everest is a captivating exploration of Ruth Mallory, wife of legendary Everest climber George Mallory, and Kate Nicholson’s parallel journey a century later.
Kate’s two decades of research into Ruth Mallory’s life took her to forgotten archives in the UK and USA, conversations with those who knew the Mallorys, and access to rare private collections. She has uncovered the real story of Ruth and George’s marriage, including George’s relationships with other women. Ruth Mallory was a pioneering climber in her own right and co-founded the UK’s first all-female rock climbing club, the Pinnacle Club, which Kate herself joins to experience the challenges and triumphs of the sport in an attempt to understand her subject more deeply.
This book goes beyond Everest, offering a profound glimpse into a marriage, early female climbers, and the lasting impact of the First World War, the League of Nations, and the British Empire. Through Ruth’s lens, Kate paints a vivid portrait of resilience, ambition, and the pursuit of adventure. She delves into Ruth’s attitude toward danger, reflecting on how our perceptions of risk and responsibility have evolved.
A masterful blend of personal and historical narratives, Kate will encourage us to scale the heights of human experience and will uncover for us the untold story of the Mallorys.

Franco Fubini | In Search of the Perfect Peach with Dr Federica Amati, Head Nutritionist at ZOE
That first bite of a perfectly ripe peach can be truly transforming – a joyful moment that will stay with you forever.
But sadly these days it is all too rare to eat a perfect peach. Franco Fubini is at the forefront of a fundamental revolution in the way we all eat. As founder and CEO of Natoora, the pioneering food company that works with small-scale producers to source the finest food for restaurants around the world, he has been raising the bar on flavour for the last twenty years.
In conversation with the UK’s top nutritionist and Head Nutritionist at ZOE, Dr Federica Amati, they will be discussing how, by looking at flavour, we can unpick the industrialisation of our food production, restore nutritional value and seasonal diversity to our plates and the craft of growing back to our landscapes. They will talk about some of Fubini’s food odysseys that are featured in his book and how food production needs to be overhauled for the sake of all our health, and so we can once again all be eating perfect peaches….

Eleanor Mills | Much More to Come
In the tumult of midlife, women can face a whirlwind of challenges: divorce, loss, career upheaval, and the daunting task of reinvention. At forty-nine, as editorial director of The Sunday Times, having worked there for over 20 years Eleanor Mills thought her life was going swimmingly. Then overnight she lost her job, and her identity with it, and the bottom fell out of her world. She had to pick herself ip and start again from scratch setting up Noon.co.uk, a trailblazing platform for women in their midlives facing this whirlwind of personal, relationship, health and career challenges.
Much More to Come is the guide she longed for in those dark times. Within these pages, Eleanor shares stories of resilience and optimism; her own and those of women who have survived and thrived in midlife.
Through moving stories and practical wisdom, Much More to Come cuts through the uncertainty and the self doubt, and proves that midlife is not to be feared, but embraced.
