Pop stars and soap stars normally perform the big Christmas lights switch on in towns and cities up and down the country.
But Winchester Cathedral had a much better idea. They asked three-year-old Maggie to do the honours and switch on the lights. Maggie is the daughter of Joe, Winchester Cathedral’s head carpenter. She said she was very excited to see the ‘big tree’ all lit up and with a bit of help from her mum Jessica the switch on went off without a hitch.
The tree is funded by the Friends of Winchester Cathedral and after it was all lit up the Boy Choristers sang the classic carol ‘Away in a Manger’.click here to hear them sing. Click here to watch the video highlights from the event.
