On Friday 1st July, at 7pm, the Winchester Cathedral Junior Choir presented their End of Year Concert to an audience of friends, family, and members of the public.
The concert began with a welcome from the Canon Precentor who noted the extraordinary growth in the choir since lockdown. The concert was conducted by Keith Clarke and Alice Wratten, and accompanied by Winchester Cathedral’s Joshua Stepehens. The programme included some beautiful harmonies from the choir as well as solos and duets throughout.
Before their last piece, the Canon Precentor presented all members with a ‘thank you’ certificate, and a long service certificate to those who have been in the choir for over three years, which had been signed by the Winchester Scribes.
Finally, the choir ended with the upbeat ‘I Just Gotta Sing’, which encompasses the choirs’ fun energy and love of music. The Junior Choir will next be singing in the College of Canons Service on the 15th of July.
The Junior Choir is nonauditioned and sings at multiple engagements throughout the year, including Mothering Sunday.
All monies raised from ticket sales from their concerts go directly into supporting the choir.
