In addition to the exciting Law Week Festival programme which was announced last week, a variety of new and exciting opportunities for local KS2-KS5 students are being prepared.

Winchester Cathedral have been joined by the award-winning National Justice Museum and Winchester Crown Court alongside Hampshire’s Crime and Police Youth Commission and outreach team to deliver an innovative and exciting programme designed specifically for schools and colleges.

Each day during Law Week Festival we will offer:

Two hour interactive workshops at Winchester Crown Court (KS2-KS5), led by the award winning National Justice Museum.
Young participants will take on the roles of judge, jury, prosecution and defence, to decide the fate of the accused.“Our inspirational educational visits use actual courtrooms, historical criminal cases and objects to help children and young people gain a hands-on understanding of the law and justice.” National Justice Museum.

Crime and Punishment through the Ages tours (KS2-KS5) based at Winchester Cathedral.
Students will join the Cathedral’s Learning Team to discover, through historical local examples, how crime and punishment has changed from the time of the Anglo Saxons to the present day as we walk through the streets of Winchester.

Safe on The Streets outreach workshops – delivered by the Youth Commission from the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner – designed for Y9 and above.
These sessions are onsite at the respective school, working with class-sized groups throughout the day to address student concerns alongside exploring different strategies to stay safe. There’s still an opportunity for schools to sign up for this workshop, if you’re interested please email florence.smith@hampshire.police.uk

We look forward to exploring topics related to crime and the judicial system with students of Hampshire.
