On Saturday 2nd July and Sunday 3rd July, in four separate services, 42 people were ordained as priests or deacons inside The Diocese of Winchester’s mother church, Winchester Cathedral.
The Right Reverend Debbie Sellin Bishop of Southampton, said: “It is a joy to bless ordain these people deacon who have worked so hard and shown such dedication to their faith and to God. The rich diversity of experiences these people bring with them will only enhance and enrich the communities they go on to serve in. I look forward to seeing all the great work they will go on to do.”
The men and women involved come from a variety of backgrounds, bringing with them a breadth of experience. Between them, they have worked in a wide range of sectors, including the civil service, the NHS and education. They have now responded to God’s call to serve their local communities as Christian leaders, and will go on to serve parishes across Hampshire and East Dorset.
