Members of the Partners in Mission Group met, over tea, at the Deanery last week to thank Sheila Redstone as she retires from chairing the Partners in Mission group. The Partners group is one of the Action and Advisory (A&A) groups formed in response to a mission audit, led by Dean James, the former Dean of Winchester. Sheila has led the group for the last 15 years, since its creation.

Dean Catherine commented “I am very grateful to Sheila for her faithful work in helping the Cathedral community to connect with Christians from three continents. The warm friendships formed have had a great impact on the lives of individuals and their communities and we have all learned a lot, shared much and carry memories of visits in our hearts.”

The Partners in Mission are the Cathedral Church of The Holy Trinity with Saint Swithun, Stavanger Norway; The Cathedral Church of St Nicholas, Newcastle upon Tyne; L’Abbaye de Fleury a St Benoit sur Loire; The Cathedral Church of St. Paul Namirembe, Uganda; The Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity, Yangon, Myanmar. Winchester Cathedral also has a special relationship with Santa Maria del Fiori in Florence.

Dean Catherine extends her gratitude to the individual members of the group who look after all these links for the Cathedral. There are plans currently being developed for the post Covid shape of partnership with the new possibilities of meeting online.
