This year’s Shrove Tuesday Pancake Race, organised by Winchester Rotary in partnership with Winchester Cathedral, makes a welcome return on 21st February. The event starts at 12.30pm with entertainment and refreshments, including pancakes, available to purchase from the Cathedral mobile catering van, and the races start at 1.00pm. The prizes will be presented at the end of the racing at around 2.00pm.

Teams will race in Winchester Cathedral’s Outer Close, representing businesses, charities, churches and other organisations from the local community. Trophies will be awarded to the team which completes the distance in the fastest time and the team in the best fancy dress.

The teams, consisting of 4 runners, will race two teams at a time in a relay between 1.00 to 2.00pm. The course for each being 38 metres long with designated places where the runners must stop and toss their pancake… accidents will happen, laughter guaranteed!
